“Essential funeral planning when living abroad”
Funeral planning when living in Cyprus
Rising funeral costs, language barriers and an unfamiliar Cypriot funeral system can make it difficult for your loved ones to make funeral arrangements in Cyprus.
In addition, many British expats want a cremation, but there is no crematorium in Cyprus. That means that you have to opt for a burial instead or go through the repatriation process to be cremated back in the UK.
Traditionally, most funerals in Cyprus take place within 48 hours and are paid for in advance, meaning it may be difficult for friends and family still in the UK to attend. Any delay may incur more costs.
